Object Lesson by Lauren Tate Baeza
Inextricably linked to Spelman College’s history is object-based learning. In “The Visual Education of Spelman Women,” M. Akua McDaniel, Ph.D. confirms that the College began collecting objects in 1899, less than 20 years after Spelman College was founded. In honor of this 121-year old legacy, the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art presents a series of interdisciplinary lessons inspired by a work of art from the Spelman College Collection.
