How do I show my work at the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art?

The Museum staff is unable to respond to each request it receives from artists who are interested in having their work presented at the Museum. While the Museum is not in a position to consider proposals at this time, it welcomes the opportunity to learn about artists’ projects and encourages artists to send information about their work. Artists should send information about their work (including their web site) to museum@spelman.edu.

Can I rent the Museum for a special event or occasion?

The Museum cannot be rented for special events or occasions. Its exclusive purpose is to advance its mission through its exhibitions, exhibition-related programs, and its permanent collection.

Can I donate a work of art to the College?

Over the last several decades, alumnae, artists, trustees, Friends of the College, and in recent years, Friends of the Museum have helped grow the permanent collection of Spelman College. Due to space limitations, the financial commitment required for the long-term care of objects, and the safety of works of art, the College is unable to accept most of the gifts that are offered. It carefully and strategically acquires works, which help advance our mission to emphasize art by and about women of the African Diaspora and complement our collection priorities. Please do not send works of art to the College, as they will be returned at the sender’s expense. If you would like to discuss giving of a work of art, please contact the Museum at 404.270.5607 or museum@spelman.edu.
