Congratulations and best wishes on your approaching graduation from Spelman College! On May 18, 2008, you will join the ranks of an elite cadre of women who have entered the gates of Spelman and passed through the Arch into lives of distinction and service. We wish you success in your chosen path and look forward to continued progress in your professional development and lifelong learning.

This Commencement Guide is designed to answer the most frequently asked questions about Spelman’s Commencement weekend, May 16-18, and to provide information that will make it a memorable experience for you and your guests. You will find information about the events that will occur in celebration of your achievements, and details about attire, ceremonial protocol, rehearsal, tickets, parking, and other helpful suggestions for making the most of your special day.

Additional information about graduation will be sent periodically to your Spelman e-mail account or home address. Be sure to check your e-mail regularly for updates. If you are having trouble accessing or receiving mail from your Spelman email account, please contact the MIT Help Desk.

result in your missing important graduation information and opportunities.

To ensure that all important College mailings, including your diploma, are delivered to the correct destination, submit any changes in your local or permanent addresses immediately to the Registrar’s Office. It is especially important that, before leaving Spelman, all graduates update their permanent mailing and e-mail addresses.
